Dauvergne Ranvier Côtes du Rhone 2015……………………..50

Paul Pillot Aligoté 2014…………………………50- Aligote is the “sister” grape to Chardonnay in Burgundy France. A lot of serious winemakers are producing Aligote wines, which are “crisp” and have floral aromas. I have been drinking many Aligote wines lately and they pair well with “rich” foods.

Domaine Pierre de la Grange Muscadet-Sèvre et Maine 2015…………………….52-This a “pretty” dry white wine with floral scents.

Olivier Merlin Mâcon La Roche Vineuse 2015…………….…..60- The Macon is an area in France where great Chardonnays are produced for modest prices. The 2015 vintage was excellent, so the fruit flavors will be “bright” and fresh.

Dauvissat Grand Cru 'Les Clos' 200…………..………………………….…..395- This Chablis [Chardonnay] is from the excellent 2005 vintage and with this much bottle age, the fruit and mineral flavors will be evolved and more complex. Dauvissat is a brilliant winemaker and this is a Grand Cru [grapes grown in the fantastic Les Clos vineyard] Chablis wine.

Rose

Commanderie de Peyrassol ϕ Provence 2016………………………..50- This is an excellent Provencal Rose for the price.

Red

Under $100.00

Domaine Ruet Côte de Brouilly 2015…………….55- Don’t confuse this Beaujolais for that “super sweet” wine. This is Cru Beaujolais from Brouilly and these wines can be as complex and as nuanced as Burgundy Pinot Noir. The 2015 vintage was excellent. Cru Beaujolais is an excellent wine to pair with food.

Château du Tertre ‘Les Hauts du Tertre’ Margaux 2012…………….76-Margaux Bordeaux wines are noted for a “sweetness” of fruit and the 2012 vintage was very good.

Hervé Souhaut ‘Souteronne’ 2016……………………..76- This Syrah has great b

Cathérine & Pierre Breton Chinon ‘Beaumont” 2013………………78- This is a great Cabernet Franc wine, which pairs well with food.

Domaine A&P Villaine Bourgogne Rouge ‘La Fortune’ 2015……………..90- This is a serious Pinot Noir with great red fruit [strawberry-raspberry-cherry] flavors and is from the excellent 2015 vintage.

Jean-Louis Chave Selections Saint Joseph ‘Offerus’ 2015……….91- Chave is the master winemaker in Hermitage. Here is produces a Syrah from St Joseph, where great Syrah’s are offered for a modest price. Ask the Sommelier to decant this wine because it needs to “breathe“ [air out] to allow the fruit flavors to be present.

Alain Graillot Crozes-Hermitage 2015…………………………94-

La Porte St. Jean Saumur-Champigny 2015……………………99-

Over $100.00

Domaine du Pelican Arbois 'Trois Cepages' 2013………………..114- This wine is a Lafayette Sommelier selection for a good reason.

Bernard Levet ‘Chavaroche’ Côte Rotie 2011……..152- This Cote Rotie [Syrah] has excellent smoked meat, black olive, and licorice scents, with black fruit [black cherry-blackberry] flavors. Levet is a master winemaker in Cote Rotie because he is able to express the true terroir of the vineyards in his wine.

Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin ‘Aux Echezeaux’ 2015……………

Domaine Lionnet 'Terre Brulée' Cornas 2009………………..163- This wine came in first place at a “blind”[labels are not seen] Cornas tasting I was fortunate to attend. This Syrah has great balance, finesse, and this wine has excellent bottle age.

Château Nenin Pomerol 2005……………………..170-Pomerols are produced using Merlot grapes and this creates a “special” wine experience. Most other Bordeaux wine is Cabernet based. The 2005 vintage was excellent and this should be a “lush” beautiful wine.

Hubert Lignier Morey St. Denis 2012……………………….……………171-This Morey St Denis [Pinot Noir] is produced by one of the best Burgundy winemakers. Lignier is able to express the true terroir [unique scents and flavors of the soil and surrounding flora/fauna of a vineyard site] in his wine. The 2012 vintage was very good.

Château Montrose ‘La Dame de Montrose’ 2000………………………181- Every large Chateau in Bordeaux puts their finest grapes into the “marquee” label. The second best grapes are put into the “second” label wine. In a great vintage, like 2000, there is little difference between the best and second best grapes, so you benefit from drinking excellent “second” label wine at a great price. Chateau Montrose are fantastic winemakers. The 3 most important factors, when choosing wine from a list, are Vintage-Producer-Price. Here you have all 3!

Tempier La Migoua Bandol 1994………………………………………227- I recently tasted this wine and it was amazing! Bandol[ Mourvedre grapes] produce a dark and intense red wine. These wines need bottle age to soften the “tough” tannins and allow the fantastic fruit flavors to emerge. Here you have the necessary bottle age to make this an amazing red wine experience.

Ghislaine Barthod Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru 'Les Cras' 2011………….…270-Chambolle-Musigny [Pinot Noir] is almost “ethereal”, The wine is light in color but has intense red fruit [strawberry-raspberry-cherry] flavors. Barthod is a master winemaker in Chambolle. I have tasted this Premier Cru wine[grapes grown in the special Les Cras vineyard] and have always been impressed. The 2011 vintage was very good.
