The Clocktower Wine List Picks - 1 Michelin Star
Ruinart, Blanc de Blancs, Brut, Reims NV 85-
Sancerre, Pascal Jolivet, Loire Valley, France 2016 40
Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Château Mont-Redon, Rhône Valley, France 2013 56-
Crémant d'Alsace, Pierre Sparr, Brut Rosé, France NV 68- This is not “true” Champagne but who cares? It is delicious French sparkling wine. If you are taking guests to dinner, order a second bottle of this “bubbly”, and you will look like a “sport”.
Henriot, Blanc de Blancs, Brut, Reims 145-
Henri Goutorbe, 'Special Club', Brut, Aÿ 2005 172-Pick this Champagne from the great 2005 vintage.
Greco di Tufo, Vadiapeti 2015 55
Chardonnay, Franco Toros, 'Collio' 2009 78
Sauvignon Blanc, Alphonse Mellot, 'La Moussière' Sancerre 2016 8
Sauvignon Blanc / Sémillon, Château Carbonnieux 2010 92-
Domaine Beaurenard, Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 2015 105-
Chablis, Moreau-Naudet 2014 80-
Pouilly-Fuissé, Domaine Leflaive 2015 156
Riesling, Zind-Humbrecht, 'Clos Windsbuhl' 2010 167
Sandhi, 'Sandford and Benedict', Sta. Rita Hills 2014 136. A good value for this effort by Sandi vineyards.
Puligny-Montrachet 1er, François Carillon, 'Les Combettes' 2015 267-
Chablis Grand Cru, Domaine Christian Moreau, 'Les Clos' 2014 254- . The 2014 vintage was amazing and it shows in this Chablis.
Cinsault/Grenache, Château La Gordonne, 'Vérité du Terroir', Côtes de Provence 2015 56-
Côte de Nuits-Villages, Domaine Petitot, 'Terres Burgondes' 2014 72-
Morgon, Domaine Chamonard, 'Le Clos de Lys' 2015 68- Don’t mistake this Beaujolais for that “super fruity” Beaujolais wine. This is Crus Beaujolais from the Morgon region. Good Beaujolais can be as complex and as nuanced as Burgundy Pinot Noir. Morgon is one of my favorite wines with dinner.
Côtes-du-Rhône, Franck Balthazar 2016 65
Zinfandel Sky, Mt. Veeder 2012 78-
Saint-Joseph, J.L.Chave Selection, 'Offerus' 2014 84-
Syrah Clendenen Family, 'Rancho La Cuna', Central Coast 2009 89-
Cornas, Vincent Paris, 'Granit 30' 2015 97-
Pauillac, Château Clerc Milon, 'Pastourelle de Clerc Milon' 2009 126- Every large Bordeaux chateaux puts the “best” grapes from the vineyard into their “marquee” label. The “second best” grapes are put into their “second label” wine. In a great vintage , like 2009, there is little difference between the “best’ and “second best” grapes. This is the second label of Clerc Milon [a Chateau Rothschild property] and is a fantastic wine!
I have been tasting 2009 Bordeaux wines for the past year and they are amazing. Pick this great value wine!
Pomerol, Château Fayat 2009 116- If you prefer Pomerol [Merlot] then pick this one from the great 2009 vintage. In a great vintage, like 2009, everyone produces great wine. You will be amazed by the lush fruit in this Bordeaux. A great pick!
Chianti Classico, Castello di Selvole, 'Gran Selezione' 2011 116
Bandol, Domaine la Suffrène, 'Les Lauves' 2005 121-
Muga, 'Prado Enea', Gran Reserva 2009 182
Pride Mountain, Napa Valley 2013 154- Do you like “super” “big” Merlot from California? Pride Mountain specializes in extracting all the flavors from their grapes. You could “chew” this wine.
Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Domaine Beaurenard, 'Boisrenard' 2012 168- . This is a great value CDP from the great 2012 vintage.
Barolo, Diego Conterno 2004 168-
Bergström, 'Bergström Vineyard', Dundee Hills 2013 198
Aubert, 'Lucia Abreu Vineyard', Howell Mountain 2006 174- This wine is a steal!!!! A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc [typical Bordeaux blend], this wine possesses earth, black berry, licorice, and cocoa flavors. With bottle age, to smooth out the tannins, this wine will be beautiful tonight. A great price for a great wine.
