Blue Hill Wine List Picks

Valentin Zusslin, Crémant d’Alsace ‘Brut Zéro Sans Soufre,’ France NV 65.-This is not “true” Champagne but who cares? The is a beautiful bottle of sparkling wine. If you are hosting a group of people, order a second bottle of "bubbly", and look like a sport.

Larmandier-Bernier, 1er Cru Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs ‘Longitude’ NV 120.- This Blanc de Blanc [all Chardonnay grapes

Under $100.00

Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Aligoté Burgundy, France 60. 2015 -Aligote is the "sister" grape to Chardonnay in Burgundy. This wine is very "dry" and floral.

Domaine de la Grand’Cour Gamay Brouilly, Beaujolais, 75. ‘Cuvée Vieilles Vignes’ France 2016- Don’t dismiss this Beaujolais as one of those “super fruity” wines. This is Crus Beaujolais from the Brouilly region. These wines are very nuanced and are great with food.

Manenti Frappato & Nero d’Avola Cerasuolo di Vittoria, 5

Maître de Chai Zinfandel Lodi, California 85. ‘Stampede Vineyard’ 2015-There is nothing wrong with ordering a great Zinfandel with dinner here. Zins can be enjoyed young because they do not possess "tough" tannins.. Zinfandels are very fruit forward [lush]  and are always a good value red wine in restaurants.

Château Tour Pibran Cabernet Sauvignon Pauillac, Bordeaux 90. ‘Paulliac Rouge’ & Merlot France 2011- a reasonably priced Bordeaux with their dinner.

Smith Madrone Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain, 115. Napa Valley, CA 2014- If it is California Cabernet you desire, pick this one.

Domaine Auguste Clape Syrah Cornas, Northern 265. Rhône, France 2015- If you have never tried Auguste Clape’s Syrah this is your chance

Domaine du Grenache, Mourvèdre, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, 345. Vieux Télégraphe Cinsault, Syrah, Rhône, France 2007

Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Pinot Noir Chambolle-Musigny, 400. 1er Cru ‘Les Fuées’ Burgundy, France 2004 - Chambolle wines are my favorite red Burgundies because they are almost “etherial”. Light in color but with intense red fruit [strawberry-cherry-raspberry] flavors. This is a more “feminine” Pinot Noir reminiscent  of a strong woman. With this bottle age, the fruit flavors will be very evolved and complex. Sublime!
