Rosé Brut, Lucien Albrecht, Cremant d'Alsace, NV 78- This is not “true”Rose  Champagne but it doesn’t matter because it is delicious. You get a lot of tart red fruit [strawberry-rhubarb] flavors in this sparkling wine. If you are having guests, order a second bottle of “bubbly”,  and look like a sport.


Blanc de Blancs, Gruet, 2007 73- Yes they do make good sparkling wine in New Mexico. This one is Blanc de Blanc[ made with all Chardonnay grapes]. 

Brut, Taittinger, 'La Française', NV 138- A great NV [non vintage] Champagne.

Rosé Brut, Henriot, NV 148- I have tasted this Rose Champagne many times and have always enjoyed it.

Puilly-Fuissé, Louise Jadot, 2014 90- This is a great Chardonnay from the Macon which is located "outside" of the high priced white Burgundy villages [Puligny-Chassagne]. The 2014 was an amazing vintage .

California Chardonnay Kistler, 'Les Noisetiers', Sonoma Coast, 2014 148-  A “rich” glass of Chardonnay.  


Puligny Montrachet 1775 Puligny Montrachet, Olivier Leflaive, 2014 170-This Chardonnay is produced by one the best winemakers in Burgundy and 2014 was a fantastic vintage.


Hermitage, Marsanne, Betts & Scholl, 2006 193- A great white Rhone with stone fruit [peach-apricot], yellow apple skin, and toasted bread crust flavors.


Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Clairette, La Crau, Domaine Vieux Télégraphe, 2011 213- I love this wine!

Hahn Family, 'SLH', 2014 85- This is a very good classic California Pinot noir with red fruit [cherry-strawberry] flavors. 


 My Essential Cabernet, 'By Richard Betts', 2013 70- California Cabernet with your steak, pick this wine.


Gramercy Cellars, 'Lower East', Columbia Valley, 2013 85- This Washington State Cabernet is another good option at this price point.


 Riglos, 'by Paul Hobbs', Gran Cabernet Sauvignon, Uco Valley, Mendoza, 2013 80- Here is the best value for Cabernet at this price point. Trust me, order this Argentinian Cabernet and you will be happy you did. Ask the Sommelier to advise you on comparing this Cabernet and the two above.


Jean-Louis Chave, 'Offerus', 2013 90- Here is one of my favorite wines.


Domaine Raspail-Ay, 2012 90- This is another Rhone gem [Syrah] and a good value.


Bordeaux Château Durfort-Vivens, 'Vivens', 2010 95- This is Margaux Bordeaux from a great vintage.


 Rioja Reserva, Remelluri, 2010 95- This is an amazing wine from a great vintage.On a first taste you would think it was Bordeaux.

Zinfandel Turley, Rattlesnake Ridge Vineyard', Howell Mountain, 2014 125- Helen Turley knows Zinfandel. 


Burgundy Leroy, 2003 110- This simple French Pint noir is from an amazing vintage. Leroy is a Queen in Burgundy. Since the wine is 14 years old, ask the Sommelier if this wine is “tired” and lost it’s youth. Ask him/her if the wine will be a “disappointment”. If you get “green lights” from the Sommelier, order it.


Burgundy Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron, 2010 188- The 2010 was an super vintage in Burgundy.


Barolo La Spinona, 'Bricco Faset', 2010 105- A good value.


Oregon Pinot Noir Walter Scott, 'Freedom Hill', Willamette Valley, 2014 125- Pinot Noir from Oregon .


Bandol Château Pibarnon, 2004 125- This Bandol red wine [Mourvedre grape] is a “big” wine and needs time for the intense tannins to soften and allow the fantastic fruit flavors to emerge. Here you have the necessary 14 years of bottle age to tame this “beast”. A perfect wine with steak.


Bordeaux Château Bonalgue, 2008 130- This Pomerol [all Merlot] Bordeaux wine and is from the really good 2008 vintage. Pomerol is always special.


Bordeaux Château Pedesclaux, Cinquième Cru, 2010 130- The 2010 vintage was amazing. Paulliac is different from Pomerol. This is a more “masculine” and earthy wine with “edges”[tannins and acid]. 


 Syrah Franck Balthazar, 'Les Chaillots', 2012 135- This is Cornas [Syrah] 


California Pinot Noir  Kistler, 2013 Pinot noir-150- Order this wine and I guarantee that everybody at your table will be happy you did. Even for people who do not appreciate great wine, this will make them sit up and take notice. Lush, fruity, and big. Need I say more?


Bordeaux St Estephe Château Lafon-Rochet, Quatrième Cru, 2009 178- the 2009 vintage was excellent. St Estephe’s posses a lot of earthy and mineral flavors.


Brunello di Montalcino Riserva, Fattoria dei Barbi, 2010 225- Brunello’s


Merlot Petrolo, Galatrona, 2013 240- Don’t confuse this Italian with "pedestrian" California Merlot and  the2013 vintage was amazing. 


Burgundy Gevrey- Chambertin Clos des Fèves, Domaine Chanson, 2010 248- Burgundy Pinot Noir is from the great 2010 vintage. 


Burgundy Chambolle Musigny Les Groseilles, Domaine Digioia-Royer, 2004 238- This Pinot Noir is from Chambolle where the wines are light in color but possess intense red fruit [strawberry-raspberry] flavors. s..


California Cabernet Beaulieu Vineyards, 'George de Latour Private Reserve', 1994 293- How often do you taste 24 year old California Cabernet? The years of bottle age allows the fruit flavors to evolve and become more complex [dried fruit -stewed fruit ]. I recently tasted the 1974 Beaulieu and it blew my mind. This is a treat! 


Bordeaux Pomerol Château Clinet, 2008 330- This is an excellent choice for Pomerol [Merlot] Bordeaux from the very good 2008 vintage. Chateau Clinet is one of the best producers in Pomerol.


California Cabernet Silver Oak, 2007 370- I think California Cabernets require at least 10 years to shed their tannins. Silver Oak produces a “rich” and balanced Cabernet. Balance is when a wine acts like a wave. The fruit flavors rise in your mouth, crest, and then recede in a long slow finish. Great balance in a wine, is the sign of a great winemaker.
